ELECTRICITY METERS: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Electricity has, no doubt, been a blessing to every individual life. And though it seems there are more miles to cover before we attain the status of constant, stable electricity in Nigeria, we can’t ignore the fact that right steps are being taken in the right direction. First off, there is the decentralisation of power distribution and partial handing over of power management and administration onto private companies with the purport of ensuring a more effective, less bureaucratic control over the power sector.

Also, the sale and installation of prepaid meters in individual homes have gone a long way in stamping a seal of accountability on the minds of Nigerians. Not only can individuals gauge and estimate the rate of electricity they consume, but they can also control it.  So that the company only charge them for the exact amount of energy they consume. As great as having the prepaid or postpaid meter may be, it poses certain questions which if not readily and rightly answered can put off any consumer. Here at Vtpass.com, we have provided ready, responsive answers to all such questions as can be seen below.

WHERE TO PAY

phcn, electricity, vtpassHaving to go far away to distant outlets can be quite an energy-sapping task. And a time wasting one too. But why go through a lot of stress paying for your electricity bill when you can, from wherever you are, simply sit back and pay for it in three easy steps. Vtpass.com affords you the opportunity of doing this, just as it affords you the opportunity to pay for your phone airtime, data subscription and cable tv subscription. You want to try it now?

Just log in to vtpass.com.

Select Pay Electricity Bill and enter your details on the displayed form.

Pay.

A token will be generated for you in form of an email or text message. You only have to input the number of the token into the meter.

HOW TO PAY

electricity, vtpassWhen paying for your electricity bill, one thing you need to know is your meter number. But oh, you are thinking, my meter number. Isn’t it the one on the card that comes with the meter? Well, you will be right if you are not talking about the long list containing both alphabets and numbers. Because that is only the serial number, not the meter number. Meter numbers are strictly numbers, no alphabets included.

Again, meter numbers are not just found on cards, they can also be found on the meters. It all depends on where you live and hence, which distribution company you belong to. electricity, vtpassIn fact, they are also called account numbers in some regions. The pattern of the meter number also varies based on each distribution company.

With these meter numbers, you can pay your electricity bill on vtpass.com by simply logging in, entering your details including your meter number and paying. Just remember that your meter numbers are strictly numbers.

WHAT YOU SHOULD WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR ELECTRICITY METER

electricity, vtpassBeyond buying and installing your meter, you might want to know about the pending debt on your meter. This pending debt usually comes with almost every new meter and needs to be cleared before any proper use. You can make proper enquiries about the exact amount of the pending debt on your new meter and then clear it on vtpass.com. Log in to vtpass.com, enter the amount of the debt alongside your meter number and pay.

Also, you can make payment for your 9mobile, Airtel, MTN, GLO airtime and data subscription on vtpass.com. Again, renew your DStv, GOtv and Startimes subscriptions and so much more by visiting vtpass.com.

PHCN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES IN NIGERIA

Following the privatisation of PHCN (Power Holding Company of Nigeria), several different electricity companies are now responsible for the disbursal of electricity and the handling of electricity payments. What this has done is decentralise the means for the payment electricity bills so that they are now paid based on where individuals live. The distribution companies as they stand presently include the following.

DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES

Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC)- Solely for those on the mainland, (Ikeja and environs).

Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED)- Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa and River states.

Eko Electricity Distribution PLC– For those on the island (Lagos and Agbara regions).

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC)-– Federal Capital territory, Kogi State, Niger State, Nassarawa State.

Jos Electricity Distribution PLC– Benue, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau states, Saminaka in Kaduna state.

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC)- Kano, Katsina, Jigawa.

PHCN ELECTRICITY PAYMENT

There are a few more electricity companies, who like the ones here, own and maintain the distribution network and support equipment within the zone. These companies also manage meter installation and servicing, billing, coordinate consumer credit service and collect revenue. It is no gainsaying that despite a reasonable distribution of zones, the reach of these distribution companies does not at all span the length and breadth of the country.

More so, it can be quite a handful trying to understand the workings of these companies, especially if you are just a consumer using power to meet your everyday needs. What can be more of a handful, though, is going through the process of paying for your electricity bill. Rather than worry about companies and distribution centres, why don’t you merely cross over to vtpass.com, an online payment platform, that ensures a speedy and convenient payment of your electricity

GLO EASYSHARE: HOW TO MAKE EASY TRANSFERS

It would seem sharing and getting connected is as essential a part of life as breathing itself. It is thus no wonder that the various service providers have offset a connective mode through the provision of a means to easily transfer airtime to family members and loved ones. Just as there is the MTN Share ‘N’ Sell, there also is the Glo Easyshare. Knowing how to operate these -services will go a long way in helping you stay connected.

To transfer airtime through the Glo Easyshare, you need to, first and foremost, activate the service by changing or creating a GLO pin. You should keep in mind that the default pin is 00000. To change the pin, just dial,

*132*00000*NEW PIN* NEW PIN#.

Inevitably, your new pin must be a five digit number. For example, if your new chosen pin is 78965, then you will dial

*132*00000*78965*78965#.

After this, you can transfer any amount of airtime ranging from #50 to #5000 by dialling *131*Phone Number*Amount*PIN#.

If you want to transfer #500 to a family friend, for instance, whose phone number is 081534528870, you will dial

*131*081534528870*500*78965#.

Once this is done, you will be sent a message indicating a successful transfer.

But things have gotten even better. You can now perform an easy transfer to any number on any Nigerian network through Vtpass.com.

MTN TRANSFERS: HOW TO USE MTN SHARE ‘N’ SELL

Have you ever wondered how to send airtime from your MTN number to your loved ones, without having to buy recharge cards and reeling out long numbers to them? Well, this can be easily done through the MTN Share and Sell. By initiating Share ‘N’ Sell, MTN has made it possible for airtime, ranging from #50 to #5000, to be transferred between MTN customers through their phones.

HOW DOES MTN SHARE ‘N’ SELL WORK?

As a first time user of MTN Share ‘N’ Sell, it is advisable to change your pin before any transaction so as to ensure that your phone is not trespassed upon and used to send airtime randomly. Have it in mind, then, that the default pin is 0000.

Changing your MTN share ‘n’ sell pin

To change your pin, you should dial

*600*0000*NEW PIN*NEW PIN#.

What this means is that if you decide your new pin (which must be a four digit number) will be 3421, then you should dial,

*600*0000*3421*3421#.

Another way you can change your pin is by sending a message with the entry 0000 NEW PIN NEW PIN to 777. Again, if your pin were to be 3421, it would be

0000 3421 3421 to 777.

Once a confirmation message is sent to you, you can commence transfers of airtime. Simply dial *600*Recipient’s number*amount*PIN#. Here is an example:

mtn
Code for MTN Share ‘n’ Sell

*600*08009576890*200*3421#

You can also transfer using an SMS Format, just enter this: Transfer/space/Recipient’s number/space/amount/space/PIN. Send this to 777.

An example: Transfer 08009576890 200 3421 to 777

In another confirmation message that will be sent, enter the word YES and forward it to them. Bear it in mind though that you can only share airtime worth #10,000 every day.

EID-EL-KABIR: TEN FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Though the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir has not started in full measure, it is not too early to say, Happy Eid-el-Kabir to every Muslim faithful. And also to Nigeria in its entirety. Despite the several economic and security factors attempting to deplete this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, all hands are on deck to make sure the celebration embodies, in all respect, the solemnity of the feast. Here are ten facts you need to take note of as we plunge into this festive period which is to begin on Friday, the 1st of September, all through to Monday, the 4th of September.

  1. THE  MEANING OF EID-EL-KABIR

The name, Eid-el-Kabir, is an Arabic phrase for “Feast of the Sacrifice”. Another way of calling it is Bakr-Eid (Sacrifice Feast). Eid-el-Kabir can also be called Eid-al-Adha.THE ORIGIN

2. THE ORIGIN

According to Islamic sources, Eid-el-Kabir epitomises the willingness and sacrifice exhibited by Ibrahim. Ibrahim who was asked by Allah to sacrifice Ishmael, the promised son, was very complaint even to the point of almost giving up his son. It was the angel Jibril that stopped him in his tracks and told him that due to his submissiveness, his sacrifice had been accepted already. Woven into this was Ibrahim’s journey from Canaan to the rocky plains of Mecca, Saudi Arabia with his Hagar, Adnan, and Ishmael.

On his return to Canaan, he left behind Hagar and Ishmael who ran out of food and water. Due to Allah’ provision, Hagar and her son were able to drink from a spring of water and even got food by selling from the water.

Ishmael became a prophet delivering the message of submission from God to nomads in the desert. This served as a precedent to the present Hajj.

3. SOLEMN PRAYER

eid el kabir
PIC. 9. MUSLIMS PRAYING DURING EID EL-KABIR CELEBRATION AT ISHERI-OSHUN, IJEGUN IN ALIMOSHO LCDA OF LAGOS STATE ON THURSDAY (24/9/15).
6821/24/9/2015/OOA/BJO/NAN

To commence the Eid-El-Kabir, prayers are offered at all the mosques all over the world. This is to seal the solemnity of the feast, as Eid-el-Kabir is considered the holiest of the two Muslim celebrations we have.

4. THE SACRIFICE

EID EL KABIRThis is the highpoint of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration. Even before the appointed time for Eid-El-Kabir, several lorries are seen towing the roads in Nigeria supplying rams and cows to the many markets from where they will be sold out to Muslims. After the prayers at the mosques, these animals are slaughtered in the head to represent Ibrahim’s own willingness to sacrifice his own son.

The representative sacrifice might not necessarily be a cow or ram, it can be a camel or goat, depending on the prevalent culture in a given place. However, the domestic animal used must meet certain requirements to be accepted.

5. COSTUME

eid el kabirFor the slaughtering of the animal, a blue coat clothing must be worn. Also, very festive clothes are worn on the other days. This is the time when the Muslims wear their very best. The women wear new, stylish lace, Ankara and colourful hijabs. Most times, the men are seen putting on guinea or damask clothing, with fanciful caps.

6. SHARING

During the Eid-El-Kabir, a lot of love is spread in style. The animals sacrificed are meant to be divided into three part. One part is for the family who slaughtered it. While the other two are for relatives and friends and the indigent ones respectively. Also, families visit one another and share meals together even after the celebration. Even these meats are taken across borders to be shared with truly indigent people.

7. SECURITY

According to security forces, 33,000 security personnel have been deployed nationwide to ensure peace and security. Also, due to the relative peace that has pervaded the North East in recent times, the former fear that accompanied the region in the past, preventing them from celebrating the Eid-El-Kabir has been somewhat dissipated. Expectedly, those in the North-East anticipate highly this year’s celebration.

8. EID MUBARAK

EID EL KABIRFor the Eid-El-Kabir, Muslims all the world greet themselves in just one way- by saying, Eid Mubarak. This form of greeting is one regulated way of showing the success of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration and shows the happiness of the Muslims in encountering yet another celebration.

9. THE ISLAMIC CALENDAR

It should be noted that the date assigned for the observance of the Eid-El-Kabir differ due to the several calendar dates we have. In the Gregorian Calendar, the celebration starts on the 1st of September which is tomorrow. But for the Islamic Calendar, it happens on the 10th day of the month Dhu al-Hijjah. This is usually eleven days later than the date assigned by the Gregorian calendar.

And yes, why not let’s take a peep into the life of a successful business mogul. Doing this will definitely prop you to start clicking away at success. We will be taking a look at our very own Folorunsho Alakija.

alakijaShe has been named one of the most successful black woman in the world! According to Forbes, she is the richest woman in Nigeria with a net worth $2.1 billion. And other than Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, she is one most powerful woman in Nigeria. Not just that, she is the second richest woman in Africa. As well as the third richest woman of African descent. She is also the 87th most powerful woman in the world. You must admit that she is quite something. Here are five major things you probably did not know about this talented and successful woman.

alakijaHERE ARE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FOLORUNSO ALAKIJA

  1. She is a great philanthropist

More than you know, Folorunsho Alakija gives back to the society in more ways than one. One of such philanthropic acts is the Rose of Sharon Foundation. An initiative that helps widows and orphans pursue their ambitions and intents with scholarships and grants, interest-free loans, accommodation solutions and other programs. Through the Rose of Sharon Foundation, over a thousand widows and their children have had their lives take a positive turn. The Rose of Sharon foundation is also affiliated with the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International. And this partnership has provided the spiritual backbone these widows need.alakija

Also, her company Famfa Oil is a major contributor to the Agbami medical and engineering scholarship scheme which has helped sponsor the education of many medically and technologically oriented students. There is also the Folorunsho Alakija Scholarship Scheme, designed to help very poor Nigerians get an education.alakija

2. She never went to a University

It almost has become an imperative for any successful person to be an alumnus of a well-known university. Well, this is not the case with Folorunsho Alakija. Despite accumulating certificates in other respects, a university degree was never part of the stock.

alakijaWhen Folorunsho Alakija was seven years, she was sent to the United Kingdom to begin a primary education in Wales. On her return to Nigeria, she went to Muslim High School, Sagamu, Ogun State. After this, she went over the shores again for secretarial studies at Pitman’s Central College. She went from secretarial school to several fashion schools to study fashion design. Yes, she has been in several institutions but none of them has ever been a university.

On the reason for not attending a university, Alakija says that “If I had the opportunity of going to the university, maybe I would have come out with a second class upper or lower but that didn’t happen; that wasn’t to be my destiny. I would have loved to go to the university as we all know that university education is good but some of us who have not gone, it is not the end of the world.”alakija

Well university or no university, she has risen to an enviable peak. Not only that, not having a university degree did not stop her from being the chancellor of Osun State University. This has made her the first female chancellor in Nigeria.

With vtpass.com, you can conveniently pay for your phone airtime, TV Subscription, data subscription, electricity bills and so much more.

3. Her parents saw first

alakijaIt won’t be wrong to say that Folorunsho Alakija’s success was set right on track with the help of her parents. They saw the potential she embodied. For one thing, being born to Chief L.A Ogbara, a husband to eight wives in Ikorodu, Lagos, meant that she was one of many more children. 52 children, in the case of Chief Ogbara. The largeness of Chief Ogbara’s household did not stop him from sending his children to good schools home and abroad. As it appears, Folorunsho and her sister, Doyin were part of the very few ones that Chief Ogbara gave qualitative education. And as far as can be seen, this has paid off.

Again Folorunsho started off as an executive secretary of Sijuade Enterprise. But she left the corporate circle to follow her fashion designing passion. She took up several studies in the UK. On coming back, she established her own fashion house Supreme Stitches which rose to a very prominent height. What is not known though is that her mother, a prolific fashion expert helped out a lot. Inevitably, this helped in taking Folorunsho’s fashion business to great heights. Evidently, not only did her parents believed in her, they also helped make her dream come true.alakija

Partner with us at vtpass.com by joining in on one of our affiliate programs like the Refer a Friend, widget or by being a Terminal agent. We can help transcend limits. Simply log on to vtpass.com.

4. Folorunsho Alakija is a Jack of all trades and master of all.

As highlighted above, Folorunsho Alakija started out as a secretary. Also, she worked at First National Bank of Chicago (FinBank), now owned by FCMB, before moving on to the fashion world. She was awarded the best fashion house in 1986. Due to her impact in Nigerian fashion, she is the National President and trustee of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN).

alakijaFolorunsho, however, got her big break when she, alongside her friend, bought an undesired oil bloc. Texaco, seeing the potential in the oil bloc, partnered with her company giving her the success story she had been waiting for. Now, she is also involved in real estate and property development.

The business tycoon’s high point is in being able to multitask successfully. Despite having several wings of business, she is able to appropriately manage every one of them. Only through efficient delegation can this be possible.alakija

Looking for how to get some tasks done while attending to several others? Trust vtpass.com to help you out on this. Pay all pending bills, phone airtime, DStv subscription, GOtv subscription, Startimes subscription and even your electricity bills by simply logging on to vtpass.com, and leaving us to do the rest.

5. Her love life is at an ace level

alakijaRecently, Folorunsho Alakija posted pictures showing that even at sixty-five, her love life is still flourishing. In 1976, she got married to Modupe Alakija and the marriage has produced four sons, all of whom are very successful. She is evidently still happily married and basking in the happiness of her own children. RELATIONSHIP TIPS: THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GOING INTO A RELATIONSHIP

If there is one thing we can never take a break from, despite the fast lane on which life tows these days, it is love. Love really does make the world go round. Every day, new relationships sprout up and old ones die. Maybe you suddenly have budded affection for a particular someone and you are thinking of cementing your growing feelings. Yes, going into a relationship with this special person would be the right thing to do. But there are certain factors you need to note before starting out. You wouldn’t want to get heartbroken or find out that you had been on a crumbling galley all along.

1. THE TIME FACTOR

Now it is important you consider if you have the time on your hands to go into a relationship. Are you a thoroughly busy person who barely has time to live for yourself? Then, you should not be thinking of bringing someone into your life. Because in a relationship, you have to be responsible for the other person. There is no way a relationship will work if one of the duos is miserly with time. For love to grow into any height, there is a need for the partners to send a lot of quality time together.

RELATIONSHIP
EVEN IF THERE IS NO TIME, MAKE OUT TIME.

Spending time together does not necessarily have to happen physically all the time. Logging on to vtpass.com, for instance, affords you the opportunity of buying phone airtime and data subscription conveniently from anywhere and at any time. So you can call your partner from wherever you are and at any time. You can also have takeout and TV time with your potential other. Just make sure to pay for your electricity bills and tv subscription at your very convenience with vtpass.com.

2. CONSENSUS

You should know if your partner equally feels the same way as you feel about them. It would be pointless if you are the only one head over heels, and your partner is not really into you as you are into them. This inevitably turns a relationship into a sour grape. Even before verbally confirming a partner’s feelings for you, there are ways you can find out if your intended lover feels something for you. For one thing, the body language of people; their regular dreamy gaze at you or shying away once you look at them, their endless attempt to mirror your movements, touch you and laugh at your not-so-good jokes can mean they like you.

RELATIONSHIP, CONSENSUS
BE WITH SOMEONE THAT ONLY WANTS TO BE WITH YOU

Also, try asking for help to see if they will hurriedly come to your aid. Notice if there are any subtle compliments coming their way or if their friends are all cosy around you once you show up. These are signs that can indicate if the feeling is mutual. And once you find out, don’t hang around too long, feeling too special. Make sure you immediately reach out by calling straight up or striking a friendly conversation on social media apps. Vtpass.com comes in handy here. Having double thoughts about reaching out to a sweetheart? At vtpass.com, we don’t give a chance for second thoughts. The faster your fingers are in logging on to vtpass.com to get your phone airtime or data subscription, that’s just how nearer you are to hooking up with your potential other.

3. EXPECTATIONS

RELATIONSHIP, TIRED
DEFINE YOUR EXPECTATIONS BEFORE GOING INTO A RELATIONSHIP SO YOU DON’T END UP WITH A MIGRAINE

Before going into a relationship, you must consider the things you expect from your proposed partner. Not just that, discuss these expectations with them. Do you expect to see your partner every day in a week or do you expect your guy to always take you on romantic night-outs and call you at night before you go to bed? Then you would want your partner to know. Don’t expect them to know because we are all humans. Know what you want and then ask for it. Ther is no way you can have a go at great night-outs or late night conversations without buying airtime or data subscription or making sure the electricity bill is settled. You can conveniently do this in record time by logging on to www.,vtpass.com

4. PAST RELATIONSHIPS

Still looking back to the bustling romance you had with an ex or that event that happened to you in the past and has affected the way you see things or view people? Then you wouldn’t mind taking a backseat, crossing your legs, folding your arms and sipping some chilled drink with a straw. Long and hard.

RELATIONSHIP
GET RID OF YOUR PAST BEFORE STARTING A NEW RELATIONSHIP

Because no, you are not ready for a relationship. Going into a relationship with some lurking past creeping in is not a good way to groom a relationship. And certainly not the perfect note to start at all. So why not rid yourself of this haunting past, no matter how painful it is. And start afresh. Every day presents us with a new opportunity, a new life.

Please don’t tie yourself to the past that you can’t relive. Talking about sitting back and taking a drink, you would also like to add a couple of refreshing episodic Telemundo soap-opera from the big screen. And definitely, you would need a good running decoder for that. You can renew your DStv, GOtv, Startimes decoder conveniently,  efficiently and comfortably by logging on to vtpass.com, clicking on Pay TV subscription, selecting the appropriate options and paying.

5. CHARACTER

Take it or leave it, going into a relationship without considering the character trait of potential significant other is like buying a car without giving thoughts to its engine. And that, you must agree, is the easiest way to landing in a crash. You wouldn’t want to do that so you should want to check out the character of your partner. Is there is any sign of excessive anger, bossiness, rudeness or the personal things you detest in a person? Is your partner a control freak, an attention seeker? Of course, being in love, you would not immediately see this. But still make sure that while you are following your heart, you do not leave your brain behind.

RELATIONSHIP
WATCH OUT FOR NEGATIVE CHARACTERS. IF YOU CAN’T LIVE WITH IT, DON’T BEAR IT

In all these, starting out into a relationship is one great thing that can happen to a person. But starting out right gives a better edge.
