API: LET VTPASS.COM SERVE YOU WELL

The first question that will be on your lips is what is an API?

Well, here is a textbook definition:

An API stands for “Application Programming Interface.” An API is a set of commands, function, protocols and objects that programmers can use to create software or interact with an external system. It provides developers with standard commands for performing common operations so they do not have to write the code from scratch.

But not all of us are computer geeks or nerds. Ok, most of us are not. So here are simple, fun ways of understanding what an Application Programming Interface (API)  is:

You buy an extension, which you intend using to charge your phone, laptop and the likes. For the extension to work, you are not going to plug straight to the transformer next to your house, or the wire transmitting electric current to you, right? No, you need an interface. Something that can stand in the gap and collect the energy from the electric current down to you. You need a socket. This socket which is usually connected to a wire on the wall serves as an interface to which you plug your extension. This in response to the interface, enables you to charge your phone and any other thing.

The API is just like that socket, except it is something you can’t see and it has more to do with the internet world.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE

You want to buy rice and chicken from your favourite restaurant. Now, do you just go into the kitchen where it is being cooked or stored? And then demand a plate of rice and chicken? Of course, not, there is an attendant, a waiter. In this case, an interface that delivers your request for a hamburger to the kitchen staff. They in response to your request, hand over the food to the waiter, who will, in turn, place it before you. And then, lunch or dinner is served. Or breakfast, if you are the one that does late meals or does not fancy the routine bread, tea and egg.

The waiter has served as an API, relaying messages for you all in a bid to deliver a service. You must have guessed by now that in the real sense, the person making the request is not a person, but codes. Just like the waiter and kitchen staff responding to the requests are are all codes.

So, simply put, APIS are messengers that take requests from a user end, go to the right quarters to deliver the message.  And then relays back an answer to the user again. In a technical sense, you use an API when you employ the code written by someone else or their database for your own purpose, or to service your own website.

WHY DO I NEED TO KNOW API?

There are a lot of ways knowing how the API works can profit an average online business person. Say, you have a natural hair blog that sometimes needs to display videos. You might not have these videos at all. But by integrating Youtube’s API to your site, these videos can be displayed on your site.

It is through this the API that many videos on YouTube get featured on sites that clearly are not Youtube. Another easy way of using API is having a website where you need people to sign in or login. Because you know Google or Facebook already have the sign in feature which is way professional.  On proper request, you can simply use Google or Facebook’s sign in feature. So that, what you will have on your own website is “sign in with Google or Login with Facebook”. You might be nodding in understanding right now. That’s good, but there is something even better.

iPHONE 8-X BECOMES REVOLUTIONARY WITH VTPASS.COM

Let’s talk revolutionary.

In 1948, Robert Heinlein wrote one of his now popular science fiction called Space Cadet. It told of 2075 and a Cadet, Matt Dodson, who amidst his investigative task on Venus, found out time to pick a call from his father,

“Say your telephone is sounding.”

“Oh!” Matt fumbled in his pouch and got out his phone. “Hello?”

But hey, that is only meant to happen in the year 2075, right? Well, you know that’s not true because though we are barely out of the year 2017, a whole lot more can be done than being able to dial folks and wave a virtual hi from anywhere in the world or outer world. It seemed Robert’s scientific fictional forecast gored the oxen of the factual technological scientists. So much that from the next year, 1949, the invention of the mobile phone went past being a playful hypothesis and military experiments. And became being a stark reality in every individual life, as stark as living itself.

THE SMART EVOLUTION

vtpass,old phone
This was the past

The evolution of mobile phone has transcended imaginative limits to become the smartphones we now know. But no, in spite of the unthinkable feat that has already been achieved in this realm. There has been no stopping. Not with the recent launch of yet another Apple’s advanced iPhone versions. The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.

TWO PEAS IN A POD

vtpass,iphoneVtpass.com, in like manner, has excelled in being an unbeatable online payment platform through which payments for your phone airtime, data subscription, electricity bills and cable TV subscriptions. Though not the first of its kind, it has proven to be the only one of its kind, considering the rate of speed, convenience and efficiency with which dispenses of pending bills. FEATURES OF THE NEW iPhone 8-X

vtpass,iphone 8Wireless Charging

At first, when Apple announced their intention to incorporate wireless charging, it sounded virtually impossible. But they have proven they were not bluffing one bit as their new line of phones now feature wireless charging. Added to this is the fast- charging feature. This might look nothing to anyone using an Android. But the past iPhones are typical for how slow their charging process. The new iPhones, according to claims, can now reach a 50% within the space of 30 minutes. And that can be used for the whole day.

Dust and Water Resistant

That you can accidentally drop your phone into a cup of water or a heap of dust and still come back to meet it healthy and waiting drowsily after a whole 30 minutes, it’s quite a big deal.  This is what iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X promise, and really, it’s a helluva awesome feature.

Glass and Aluminium design

The back of the iPhone 8-X is made of glass. Now, this might not sound like a quality feature, but it would make better sense if you knew the glass is ion-strengthened, and an oleophobic coating. Also, the glassy thingy helps the battery charge faster,

Battery and Shelf Life:

Talking about batteries, the battery for the new iPhones are deemed to be smaller yet better and lasts two hours more than its predecessor, iPhone.

Color Accuracy

This is one feature of the new iPhones. Alongside this, they also have a cinema wide colour gamut, True tone display and 3D touch, HDR photo and panorama shot, super retina display, 16M colour and a great video coverage ability.

Biometric Detection

What this implies is that the phones will be made accessible only by face/smile authentication and touch focus.

There are other features of the iPhones which include new chipsets, the Apple Watch that makes streaming possible without having another iPhone nearby, the minimal bezel and OLED features, geo-tagging and the massive 64GB storage.

PHCN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES IN NIGERIA

Following the privatisation of PHCN (Power Holding Company of Nigeria), several different electricity companies are now responsible for the disbursal of electricity and the handling of electricity payments. What this has done is decentralise the means for the payment electricity bills so that they are now paid based on where individuals live. The distribution companies as they stand presently include the following.

DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES

Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC)- Solely for those on the mainland, (Ikeja and environs).

Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED)- Cross-River, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa and River states.

Eko Electricity Distribution PLC– For those on the island (Lagos and Agbara regions).

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC)-– Federal Capital territory, Kogi State, Niger State, Nassarawa State.

Jos Electricity Distribution PLC– Benue, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau states, Saminaka in Kaduna state.

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC)- Kano, Katsina, Jigawa.

PHCN ELECTRICITY PAYMENT

There are a few more electricity companies, who like the ones here, own and maintain the distribution network and support equipment within the zone. These companies also manage meter installation and servicing, billing, coordinate consumer credit service and collect revenue. It is no gainsaying that despite a reasonable distribution of zones, the reach of these distribution companies does not at all span the length and breadth of the country.

More so, it can be quite a handful trying to understand the workings of these companies, especially if you are just a consumer using power to meet your everyday needs. What can be more of a handful, though, is going through the process of paying for your electricity bill. Rather than worry about companies and distribution centres, why don’t you merely cross over to vtpass.com, an online payment platform, that ensures a speedy and convenient payment of your electricity

So there it goes. You can visit vtpass.com to renew your decoder, buy your 9mobile, Airtel, MTN, GLO airtime and data subscription, as well as pay your electricity bills.

GLO EASYSHARE: HOW TO MAKE EASY TRANSFERS

It would seem sharing and getting connected is as essential a part of life as breathing itself. It is thus no wonder that the various service providers have offset a connective mode through the provision of a means to easily transfer airtime to family members and loved ones. Just as there is the MTN Share ‘N’ Sell, there also is the Glo Easyshare. Knowing how to operate these -services will go a long way in helping you stay connected.

To transfer airtime through the Glo Easyshare, you need to, first and foremost, activate the service by changing or creating a GLO pin. You should keep in mind that the default pin is 00000. To change the pin, just dial,

*132*00000*NEW PIN* NEW PIN#.

Inevitably, your new pin must be a five digit number. For example, if your new chosen pin is 78965, then you will dial

*132*00000*78965*78965#.

After this, you can transfer any amount of airtime ranging from #50 to #5000 by dialling *131*Phone Number*Amount*PIN#.

If you want to transfer #500 to a family friend, for instance, whose phone number is 081534528870, you will dial

*131*081534528870*500*78965#.

Once this is done, you will be sent a message indicating a successful transfer.

But things have gotten even better. You can now perform an easy transfer to any number on any Nigerian network through Vtpass.com.

EID-EL-KABIR: TEN FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Though the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir has not started in full measure, it is not too early to say, Happy Eid-el-Kabir to every Muslim faithful. And also to Nigeria in its entirety. Despite the several economic and security factors attempting to deplete this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, all hands are on deck to make sure the celebration embodies, in all respect, the solemnity of the feast. Here are ten facts you need to take note of as we plunge into this festive period which is to begin on Friday, the 1st of September, all through to Monday, the 4th of September.

  1. THE  MEANING OF EID-EL-KABIR

The name, Eid-el-Kabir, is an Arabic phrase for “Feast of the Sacrifice”. Another way of calling it is Bakr-Eid (Sacrifice Feast). Eid-el-Kabir can also be called Eid-al-Adha.THE ORIGIN

2. THE ORIGIN

According to Islamic sources, Eid-el-Kabir epitomises the willingness and sacrifice exhibited by Ibrahim. Ibrahim who was asked by Allah to sacrifice Ishmael, the promised son, was very complaint even to the point of almost giving up his son. It was the angel Jibril that stopped him in his tracks and told him that due to his submissiveness, his sacrifice had been accepted already. Woven into this was Ibrahim’s journey from Canaan to the rocky plains of Mecca, Saudi Arabia with his Hagar, Adnan, and Ishmael.

On his return to Canaan, he left behind Hagar and Ishmael who ran out of food and water. Due to Allah’ provision, Hagar and her son were able to drink from a spring of water and even got food by selling from the water.

Ishmael became a prophet delivering the message of submission from God to nomads in the desert. This served as a precedent to the present Hajj.

3. SOLEMN PRAYER

eid el kabir
PIC. 9. MUSLIMS PRAYING DURING EID EL-KABIR CELEBRATION AT ISHERI-OSHUN, IJEGUN IN ALIMOSHO LCDA OF LAGOS STATE ON THURSDAY (24/9/15).
6821/24/9/2015/OOA/BJO/NAN

To commence the Eid-El-Kabir, prayers are offered at all the mosques all over the world. This is to seal the solemnity of the feast, as Eid-el-Kabir is considered the holiest of the two Muslim celebrations we have.

4. THE SACRIFICE

EID EL KABIRThis is the highpoint of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration. Even before the appointed time for Eid-El-Kabir, several lorries are seen towing the roads in Nigeria supplying rams and cows to the many markets from where they will be sold out to Muslims. After the prayers at the mosques, these animals are slaughtered in the head to represent Ibrahim’s own willingness to sacrifice his own son.

The representative sacrifice might not necessarily be a cow or ram, it can be a camel or goat, depending on the prevalent culture in a given place. However, the domestic animal used must meet certain requirements to be accepted.
